What we offer
Built specifically for UK food brand compliance
ComplianceKit is engineered around UK food law from the ground up. Every feature exists to help small food brands stay compliant, stay listed, and stay confident.
UK law at the core
Every validation runs against Natasha's Law 2021, the Food Information to Consumers Regulation 2014, and UK allergen guidance. Hidden sources such as soy lecithin, tahini, and malt vinegar are caught automatically.
Structured compliance outputs
A colour coded allergen grid, a formatted declaration ready to copy, a PDF you can file, and retailer specific data formats for Tesco, Ocado, Amazon, and Sainsbury's.
Full audit trail
Every validation is saved with the product name, date, result, and the exact declaration generated. If a retailer or food safety officer asks for evidence, you have it.
Retailer ready from day one
ComplianceKit knows what format Tesco productDNA expects, what Ocado Brandbank requires, and what Amazon UK needs. One set of data produces four retailer ready files automatically.
Live compliance monitoring
Your dashboard tracks compliance status across your entire product range and alerts you the moment something needs attention.
Ready for Digital Product Passports
The EU ESPR mandate arrives in 2026. ComplianceKit's DPP Builder will generate GS1 Digital Link compliant product passports so your brand is prepared before the deadline.

About ComplianceKit
Built for the brands that feed the country
ComplianceKit exists because getting a food product onto a supermarket shelf is harder than it should be. We are building the platform that makes compliance accessible to every UK food brand, not just the ones who can afford enterprise software.
Our mission
Small food brands power a huge part of the UK food economy. They create the innovative products, the specialist flavours, the sustainable alternatives that consumers are actively looking for. But the compliance burden of getting those products listed with major retailers is designed for teams of 20, not founders of one.
ComplianceKit is building the tools that give small brands the same compliance capability as enterprise players, at a price point that makes sense for a business still finding its feet. Starting with AI-powered allergen validation, and expanding to GS1 data management, image compliance checking, retailer pack generation, and Digital Product Passports.
The problem we are solving
Allergen law is unforgiving
Under Natasha's Law 2021 and the Food Information to Consumers Regulation 2014, incorrect allergen declarations are a criminal offence. Small brands get this wrong not because they are careless, but because the tools to get it right are inaccessible or overwhelming.
Retail data is a maze
Every major retailer wants the same product data in a completely different format. Tesco, Ocado, Amazon, Sainsbury's. Each has its own submission system, field names, and image specifications. Brands spend hours reformatting the same information. ComplianceKit automates this entirely.
Enterprise tools are out of reach
The established compliance platforms start at £25,000 per year. For a brand with ten products and a founder still doing market stalls at weekends, that is not an option. No affordable, integrated, AI-powered compliance tool existed for this market before ComplianceKit.
New regulations are coming
EU Digital Product Passport regulations mandate new data requirements from 2026 onward. Most small brands have never heard of Digital Product Passports. ComplianceKit will help them get ready before the deadlines arrive.
Our values
Precision over reassurance
We tell you exactly what is wrong and exactly what to do about it. No vague outputs. No false comfort.
Accessible by design
Every feature is built for a non-technical brand founder, not a compliance officer with a law degree.
Honest about limitations
Our outputs are guidance, not legal advice. We are transparent about what AI can and cannot do.
Built for the long term
Regulation evolves. We track it so you do not have to. ComplianceKit updates as the law changes.
On the side of small brands
Every design decision prioritises the founder doing everything themselves, not a corporate procurement team.
Building in the open
We are in the early stages. We share what we know, what we are building, and what we have not figured out yet.
The team
AO
Abraham Ojewole
Founder
Abraham holds a BSc in Computer Science and an MA in Design Management, and brings a combination of technical literacy, product design capability, and hands-on compliance research. Based in Birmingham, he identified the gap in the market for SME food brand compliance tooling through direct engagement with the UK food industry, and built the first version of ComplianceKit himself. ComplianceKit is his Innovator Founder visa venture, designed to become the leading compliance platform for UK SME food brands.
Where we are based
ComplianceKit is being built in Birmingham, UK, the second largest city in the country and home to a thriving food manufacturing and distribution sector. Birmingham gives us direct access to the food brands we serve and to the UK's growing tech ecosystem outside London.
Get in touch
We are always interested in hearing from UK food brands, potential partners, and food industry professionals. If you have a question about ComplianceKit, want to share feedback, or are interested in working with us, reach out directly.
This document defines the visual identity of ComplianceKit. Follow these guidelines consistently across the app, website, marketing materials, and any investor or endorsement documents.
Brand personality
ComplianceKit is precise, trustworthy, and quietly confident. It is not loud or flashy. It is the tool that quietly saves a brand from a costly mistake. The visual identity should feel like a professional piece of software: dark, clean, and serious, with a teal accent that signals intelligence and progress.
Compliance is set in Syne Bold weight 700, colour white (#F0F0F8). Kit is set in Syne Bold weight 700, colour teal (#00D4A0). The two words run together with no space or separator. Never change either word's colour independently. Never add a drop shadow, outline, or effect. Minimum size is 120px wide on screen and 30mm in print. Maintain a margin equal to the height of the letter K on all sides.

Rules
Labels and captions are always uppercase with letter spacing. Headings use Syne exclusively. Data fields use DM Mono. Line height is 1.05 for headings and 1.65 for body. Never use weights below 400 or above 800.

Spacing
All spacing uses an 8px base unit. Every margin, padding, and gap should be a multiple of 8. Common values in use: 8px for icon margins, 16px for standard padding, 24px for card padding, 32px for section gaps, 48px for page padding, and 64px for hero spacing.
Voice and tone
In the platform
Be direct and specific. "3 allergens detected" not "We found some allergens." Use plain English for technical concepts. Errors should explain the problem and tell the user what to do. Never say "Oops." It undermines trust in a compliance product.
In marketing
Lead with the consequence. "Never face an allergen recall because of a labelling error." Speak to the founder, not the brand. "You" not "your brand." Avoid jargon in headlines and save technical precision for the product itself.
Motion
Transitions are 150 to 200ms ease. Primary buttons lift 1px on hover. The loading spinner rotates at 0.7s linear. The live indicator pulse uses 2s ease infinite opacity animation. No bouncy or springy animations. All motion should feel precise and controlled.

GS1 Data Wizard
Build your productDNA and retailer submission data step by step
1. Product identity
2. Description
3. Allergens
4. Nutritional
5. Packaging
6. Review and export
Step 1 of 6 — Product identity
Core identifiers
The essential IDs every retailer and GS1 submission requires
Your 8, 12, 13 or 14-digit barcode number. Found on your GS1 UK account. Must be unique per product variant (size, flavour).
The brand as it appears on the product packaging. Not the company name — the consumer-facing brand.
The descriptive product name. Should tell the consumer what the product is, not just the brand line. Max 200 characters.
Numeric quantity only.
GS1 unit of measure code.
The primary country where this product will be sold. GS1 uses ISO 3166 numeric country codes.
GS1 Global Product Classification Brick code. Used by Tesco productDNA and Ocado Brandbank. If unsure, pick the closest match.
Step 2 of 6 — Description and claims
Product description
How the product is described across retailer platforms
Maximum 70 characters. Used on shelf edge labels and in search results. Should include brand, product name, and net weight.
Max 500 characters. Used on retailer product pages. Write in the third person. Do not include allergen or nutritional claims here.
Where the product is manufactured or, for primary ingredient, where it originates. Required under UK food labelling law.
Only tick claims you can substantiate. Nutritional claims are regulated under the retained EU Regulation 1924/2006. You must be able to provide evidence for each claim on request from a retailer.
As printed on pack. Required by most retailers. Used verbatim on product pages.
Optional but required by some retailers (Ocado, Waitrose). Describe how to consume or prepare the product.
Step 3 of 6 — Allergen information
Allergen declaration
Required under the Food Information to Consumers Regulation 2014
Copy exactly as it appears on your packaging. Allergens must be emphasised in bold or underlined on the physical label under Natasha's Law.
Option A: Validate using ComplianceKit
Enter your ingredients list above, then click the button below. ComplianceKit will scan all 14 UK regulated allergens and generate a compliant statement for you automatically.
Scanning allergens...
✓ Statement generated and applied
Option B: Use my own allergen statement
If you have already written or had your allergen statement reviewed by a qualified food safety professional, confirm below that it is accurate before proceeding.
Allergen presence: set each allergen status
Step 4 of 6 — Nutritional information
Nutritional values per 100g or 100ml
Required by FIC 2014 and all major UK retailer submissions
Not mandatory under FIC 2014 but required by Tesco and Ocado.
Salt = Sodium × 2.5. If your label shows sodium, convert it before entering here.
Optional but required by Amazon UK. The stated serving size on pack.
Values must match exactly what is printed on your packaging. FIC 2014 mandates that the declaration be per 100g or 100ml. Serving size figures are supplementary only. All values are subject to a permitted tolerance of ±20% under EU/UK food law.
Step 5 of 6 — Packaging and dimensions
Packaging data
Required for GS1 productDNA and retailer warehouse systems
The primary consumer packaging format. Used by Tesco productDNA field "packagingTypeCode".
Relevant for Digital Product Passport and sustainability data. Also used by Ocado Brandbank sustainability fields.
Product plus primary packaging. Used by retailer warehouse systems.
How many consumer units are in a shipping case. Required for warehouse ordering.
The type of date marking on your product. "Use by" indicates a safety date. "Best before" indicates quality. Under UK food law, high-risk foods that could cause harm after a certain date must carry a "Use by" date.
Required by Tesco productDNA and Ocado. Used to calculate remaining shelf life at receipt and for fresh/chilled ordering systems.
Step 6 of 6 — Review and export

Digital Product Passport Builder
Build GS1 Digital Link compliant DPPs ahead of EU ESPR regulatory deadlines
⬡
Complete your GS1 data first
The DPP Builder uses your GS1 product data as its foundation. A Digital Product Passport needs your product identity, materials, allergens, and nutritional data — all of which come from the GS1 Wizard. Complete and save at least one product via the GS1 Wizard to get started.
1
Complete GS1 Wizard
Fill in all six steps and save to My Products.
2

Come back and choose which product to build a DPP for.
3
Add sustainability data
Add the extra fields required by the EU ESPR mandate.
1. Select product
2. Sustainability
3. Supply chain
4. Generate passport
Step 1 of 4 — Choose product
Select a product to build a Digital Product Passport for. Only products with completed GS1 data (80%+) are selectable. Products shown in grey need their GS1 data completed first.
Step 2 of 4 — Sustainability data
These fields are specific to the EU ESPR Digital Product Passport mandate and go beyond standard GS1 product data. They cover the environmental characteristics regulators require.
Based on the packaging material declared in your GS1 data. The EU ESPR requires this to be machine-readable in the DPP.
Percentage of packaging material that comes from recycled sources. Enter 0 if unknown or not applicable.
Self-declared or third-party verified carbon footprint category. Optional in the 2026 food mandate but required from 2028 onward for most categories.
Substances subject to REACH or food additive regulation that must appear in the DPP under EU ESPR rules. Allergens are captured separately.
Consumer-facing disposal instructions. Included in the DPP as machine-readable end-of-life guidance.
How long the product is designed to last in normal use. Pre-filled from your GS1 shelf life data where available.
Step 3 of 4 — Supply chain information
Supply chain transparency is a core requirement of the EU ESPR DPP mandate. These fields identify who made the product and where.
The legal entity that manufactured the product. This appears in the DPP as the responsible economic operator.
If the product is imported into Great Britain or the EU from outside, the importer's details must appear in the DPP. Leave blank if the manufacturer and operator are the same entity.
Your GS1 company prefix location number. Used to identify your business in the GS1 Digital Link. Get this from your GS1 UK account. Optional but recommended.
The canonical product page on your website. The GS1 Digital Link will resolve to this URL by default, with the full DPP data embedded in the link structure.
Step 4 of 4 — Your Digital Product Passport
